some manual dexterity for pinning the curved pieces together.
basic quiltmaking skills such as piecing, making a quilt sandwich, basic quilting skills and finishing off a quilt.
Tools required:
Soft lead pencil (2B or 4B is best)
Sewing machine
Fabric scissors
Sewing pins
Iron and ironing board
Thread snippers are handy if you have them
Materials required:
Good quality iron-on interfacing (the thinnest you can find) (120cm by 120cm - you’ll need to stitch two pieces of interfacing together to make a piece this large)
Batting (120cm by 120cm)
Backing fabric (200cm – includes binding and hanging sleeve)
Sewing thread in a medium neutral colour (for piecing)
Sewing threads in assorted coordinating colours (for quilting)
A 30cm piece of baking paper (for ironing)
Cotton fabric in a range of colours as follows:
background 1.5m (I used a natural cotton-linen blend)
pale green 30cm
light/medium green 25cm
grey green 20cm
dark grey/brown green 30cm
green 30cm
dark green 20cm
pale warm yellow 20cm
light yellow 20cm
