Blossom Explosion BOM

$120.00

'Blossom Explosion’ is a celebration of the way that our local eucalyptus blossom explode from their hardwood casings to create exuberant bursts of colour throughout our neighbourhood. You can make this stunning quilt for yourself if you join us in the block-of-the-month project. We pace you through the process of creating this statement piece by releasing one quilt block at a time, and demonstrating in detail, the various processes involved. At the end of 12 months you can have a beautifully stitched quilt top!

It is suitable for anyone with intermediate sewing skills.

This block-of-the-month will include 10 different quilt block patterns, which will be distributed to you over 12 months. (Month 6 will be a catch-up month, and Month 12 will be allocated to assembling your quilt.) The block patterns will come with detailed piecing instructions, demonstration videos and bonus quilting designs (for free motion stitching). All the relevant files and information for the Blossom Explosion BOM will be available on a class website (new files will be released on a monthly basis). This purchase does not included detailed instructions on basting and quilting your quilt, although we do offer a few ideas.

Do you have my book?

The process we use in this project is the same process I use in all my artwork! It is also outlined in my book ‘pieced’, which includes lots of helpful photos. You may find it helpful to have this book as a reference as you work on this quilt. It is also available digitally.

Hand or machine?

I’ll be demonstrating with handstitching. However, it can be stitched by machine just as well.

Skills required

You do not need to be an advanced sewer to complete this project. You DO need basic sewing skills, such as being able to stitch an accurate seam (I.e. to follow a straight line or gently curve with your machine). Also, layering and quilting is not included as part of this project. These stages are briefly addressed in my book. Or if you are not confident to quilt your completed project yourself, you can have it quilted by someone else (this is a very common practice).
