Vitality: a botanical textile artwork

These lively and vibrant textile artworks are a reminder of the sustaining hand of God the Creator on this beautiful, beautiful world.
It has always fascinated me how eucalyptus trees are so well designed to suit their environment. They are sturdy, drought-tolerant, and love a good bushfire too. Even the incredibly intricate and beautiful flowers are designed for hot, dry conditions, being made up of lots of stamens, rather than more fragile petals. I was thinking about the thread-like quality of the eucalyptus stamens, as they form a big part of this collection, and the word ‘filament’ and ‘filamental’ came to mind. I'm not sure if ‘filamental’ is technically a work, but reminds me of ‘elemental’ and the elements of earth, air, fire and water.
Praying for rain for the crops and gardens is a normal part of living in Western Australia (as is praying for safety from summer bushfires). This summer has been longer and drier than normal, though, and we find ourselves prying for rain even for the native vegetation! Even our hardy, drought-tolerant natural bush is drying up and dying and it is really sobering to see.
The titles of these artworks are a statement of faith in the Creator God who has promised to uphold and sustain his creation. I don't know what the future holds, but I do trust God with it! Please pray for rain for our dry state.

Size: 84cm by 114cm (including oak wrap frame)
Materials: fabric dye, fabric paint, cotton and linen fabrics
Techniques: hand-dyed, piecework, quilting
Finish: the completed textile piece is stretched over a timber frame and finished with a close-fitting oak frame (no glass). Two heavy duty D rings are fitted to the back of the artwork, for easy hanging from hooks or a gallery hanging system.
Artwork care: Keep the artwork dry. Dust can be removed using a lint roller.
