Perspectives

I saw a little video online over the summer highlighting the different ways that people see beauty. Two people were simultaneously exclaiming over what they were seeing in the forest (?), while the viewer could see that one was admiring the moss and insects up close, and the other was exclaiming over the magnificent views that could be seen in the other direction. I love how creation is incredible from both of these perspectives. I also find it fascinating that as individuals we tend to notice different things. As much as I love a beautiful view, it is always the tiny closeup details that really get me excited. How did God the Creator, who created magnificent mountains, oceans and canyons at the same time weave such intricate detail into every part of this world?

I don’t know if this makes me a Detail Oriented person rather than a Big Picture person in every area of live, but I do know that this love of detail translates to my artwork. It’s partly why I capture closeups of leaves and flowers, rather than landscapes. And my favourite feedback has been that my artwork has inspired people to look at the local flora in a new light, to take the time to appreciate all its details.
