Wrapping up the Flowering Gum Block of the Month

The final month of the Flowering Gum BOM has shipped, and photos of completed quilt tops have started making their way back to me.

It has been such a thrill to share this block-of-the-month journey with so many people. Seeing the blocks take shape, in a wide range of fabric choices and colour palettes, in countries all over the world has been incredible.

For myself, it was rewarding to so many people become comfortable with my piecework process, and especially to hear that they were enjoying the process. I loved preparing and packaging the exclusive kits, and I know that the Exclusive subscribers loved receiving them. I love how many people have joined us along the way, after the initial subscribers started sharing their blocks online. And still now, as we all share our completed quilt tops, more and more people are joining in and beginning their own Flowering Gum quilts.

Here is some of the feedback we got:

“The quilt is pieces. Now batting, backing and quilting. This is such a beautiful pattern to learn to curve piece. I have enjoyed it a lot and highly recommend it. The colours of the fabric really shine all together. Thank you so much for creating this beautiful quilt and dyeing all the fabric and packaging it so nicely.

“I must say that it is bittersweet to come to the end, or the end of the beginning, of this twelve month endeavour. It has been my polestar through the pandemic, something to look forward to every month, as a new block pattern is released, a solitary goal in terribly troubled times. Thank you for providing this gloriously colourful joyous project to counter this existential moment!

I loved learning a new piecing technique for intentional deliberately curved lines. It opens up a whole new world of creative possibilities.”

A huge thank you to everyone who has joined in so far. I am very grateful for the trust that you placed in me.
