October 2008

I was blessed with the most exciting news recently!! One of my new eucalypt quilts, Eucalyptus Spectacular, has been accepted into Quilt National '09.

Quilt National '09, held in the United States, is the sixteenth in the series of biennial international juried competitions dedicated to promoting the contemporary quilt as an art form. For more than 30 years, Quilt National has showcased the most exciting and innovative trends in the medium. The jurors select approximately 85 works that represent unique approaches to the medium and that demonstrate the breadth and diversity of contemporary expressions. Click HERE to visit their website.

Having an art piece accepted into Quilt National was probably my highest goal when I set out on this amazing textile art making venture... I feel very blessed.

Why no photo here? Sorry, it's not permitted - you will need to wait till the full colour catalogue of the Quilt National '09 collection is published next year.

July 2008

Some weeks back my 5yr old boy suddenly got it in his head that he would like to make a quilt, just like Mummy. So armed with a box of scrap fabric, a needle and thread (threaded by Mummy), and a pair of scissors he got working. This is the result... now suitably preserved! Very special for us.

The gallery has been updated with a new quilt, Frolic...
